Bio
Chad believes in dignity, nonviolence, and freedom. He is the son of a teacher-and-precinct captain and civil-rights-lawyer-turned-diplomat, born in Denver, and has grown up in Nairobi, Guatemala, Mbabane, Mexico DF, and Bridgetown along with Arlington VA, Las Vegas NM, and St. Paul MN. Chad studied Economics and History at Macalester College after one year at CU-Boulder.
In 2014, Chad conceptualized the database and map of Black-led organizing as a part of the It Starts Today campaign to move the first $1M to Black organizers across the country in the wake of Ferguson. He contributed to the Funding Social Movements pamphlet written by Ann Bastian in 2003. Previously, he was a Coro Fellow in pre-9/11 New York, director of a multiracial group of giving circles, an ABFE Fellow, and a legal observer during the 2004 Republican National Convention.
Chad lives with his family as well as 1 dog, 4 goats, 3 ducks, 12 ducklings, 5 chickens, 1 horse, and 4 pigs on 2 acres on Hawai’i Island where he bakes frequently and learns to use power tools.
